Business Users can now Access and Update SAP 3.1H+ and mySAP Data Using Microsoft Office 2000 or Later

CUPERTINO, CA –June 26, 2006 -- Extensio Software, Inc., providers of Information Integration and Delivery technology, today announced the beta release of Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution for SAP-MS Office Users.  The Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution enables users of Microsoft Office 2000 and later releases to interact with SAP and non-SAP data from within Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel and Windows Desktop.

Despite large investments in SAP, only 5-20% of users in any enterprise use SAP.  Most business users continue to be frustrated because data from SAP is not easily accessible in their favorite desktop productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word.  The lack of connectivity of SAP to desktop applications means that users are forced to spend a significant amount of time on unproductive and error-prone cut-and-paste operations to get SAP data within their favorite interfaces, and hunting for SAP data for their day to day tasks.  Further, once the data has been moved into Microsoft® Desktop Applications, there are no easy ways to ensure its freshness and accuracy, resulting in endless rounds of checks and re-checks.

With the Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution for SAP-MS Office Users, information services from SAP 3.1H+ and mySAP repositories can be delivered in read/write/refresh modes on Microsoft Office 2000, XP, and 2003 interfaces.  With Extensio, business users can access SAP data from within Word, update employee leave records from within Outlook, receive SAP reports as periodic Outlook e-mails, and automatically get accurate and fresh SAP data without cut-and-paste into Excel.  Extensio enables enterprises to maximize their return on SAP information assets by extending its reach to all business users.

Based on Extensio Information Suite, a patented SOA-based information access and delivery platform, the Extensio Desktop Connectivity Solution for SAP-MS Office users consists of:

(a) Extensio Information Delivery Server: A SOA based server that serves data from SAP and other information sources as information services,

(b) Extensio SAP Adapter: Java based Connector that connects to SAP and delivers data from and into SAP,

(c) Extensio Extender for Microsoft Excel and Outlook: An Office Add-in that provides data from SAP into Excel and Outlook, and

(d) Extensio Extender for Microsoft Desktop: A Microsoft Desktop Application that provides data from SAP into all desktop applications such as Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.

The Extensio Extenders for Excel, Outlook, and desktop communicate with the Extensio Information Server.  The Extensio Information Server connects to SAP and non SAP data sources such as other enterprise applications, databases, internet and web services and delivers information services that can be consumed by the various extenders.  The Extensio Information services are developed with Extensio Studio, a RAD toolkit to quickly build Extensio information services in a day or two.
