Extensio announces the availability of its Pluggable Desktop Information Delivery Technology for Microsoft Excel for ISVs and Developers
ISVs and developers can now extend their applications to business users that use Microsoft Excel by plugging in the Extensio® pluggable desktop delivery technology for Microsoft® Excel into their applications and solutions. With the addition of information delivery directly into Excel with Extensio technology, ISVs and developers extend the reach of their application to a new set of business users that use Excel.
NASSCOM PRODUCT CONCLAVE, BANGALORE, INDIA - 27th October 2009 -- Extensio Software, Inc., providers of Information Delivery technology, today announced the availability of its Pluggable Desktop Delivery Technology for Microsoft Excel for Independent Software Vendors and Developers.
Microsoft® Excel is the most popular desktop application of business users. Despite availability of browser based on-line reports and BI tools, most business data finds it way from applications into Excel, either having been downloaded there, or copy-pasted into it, as business users use Microsoft® Excel as their primary data gathering tool. Business users collect data within Excel from one or more applications, and add their own data into it, to create personalized reports and models for decision making. To serve the Excel user community, most ISVs and developers build "Download/Upload to/from Excel" features into their applications. However, the 'Download/Upload to/from Excel" features do not alleviate the expensive, error-prone cut-and-paste, as users still need to cut-and-paste data from generated Excel sheets into their own spreadsheets, or create Excel sheets with specific format for uploading purposes.
The Extensio pluggable information delivery technology for Excel provides a mechanism that connects user-specified Excel cells to specific information elements from ISV/Developer applications in real-time. With Extensio enabled Excel spreadsheets, business users can refresh their specified Excel cells with real-time data from ISV/developer application, and can upload data in specified Excel cells directly into the ISV/developer application, in a user-friendly, intuitive manner, with a single click.

The Extensio Pluggable information delivery technology for Excel comprises of an Extensio Excel Add-in that provides connectivity into Excel, a COM based communication module that is installed on the desktop and communicates with the Excel Add-in, and a COM based communication API which exposes the methods required to be built for communicating with the ISV/Developer application. In addition, multiple configurability options ensure that users are delivered a seamless experience with the ISV/Developer application, even when on Excel. The supported versions include Microsoft Excel 2000, XP and 2003
The Extensio information delivery for Excel has been an integral part of Extensio Symphony, the flagship platform of Extensio for years, and in production at various customer locations, is now being thrown open for ISVs and developers.

The Extensio Pluggable information delivery technology for Excel is now available, and be evaluated for free, with free integration support.
