Extensio Extender Makes Microsoft® Excel® Ready for
the Enterprise
Microsoft Excel now has Read/Write/Refresh access to Enterprise
data
CUPERTINO, CA –March 20, 2006 -- Extensio Software, Inc., providers
of Information Integration and Delivery technology, today
announced the release of Extensio Extender for Microsoft®
Excel®, ver1.1. The Extensio Extender makes Microsoft
Excel Enterprise-ready through seamless bi-directional connectivity
with enterprise data, and support for audit and version control.
Despite widespread usage in enterprises, Excel has fallen short
of meeting the needs of its enterprise user community. Its
lack of connectivity to enterprise data stores means that
users are forced to spend a significant amount of time on
unproductive and error-prone cut-and-paste operations to get
enterprise data within it. Once the data has been moved into
Microsoft® Excel, there is no easy way to ensure its freshness
and accuracy, resulting in endless rounds of checks and re-checks.
Further, in absence of an audit trail, users can never be
sure about who entered the data, when it was changed and where
it came from.
The Extensio Extender for Excel v1.0 works with the SOA based
Extensio Information Server, and delivers information services
in read/write/refresh modes on Excel cell. With Extensio,
business users can automatically get accurate and fresh data,
without cut-and-paste into Excel. In addition, the users can
now audit data changes and track versions, ensuring that data
accountability and a single version of truth is maintained.

for Excel is essentially an Excel Add-in that can be deployed
across Excel 2000+. It communicates with the Extensio Information
Server which connects to multiple back-ends such as enterprise
applications, databases, internet and web services and delivers
information services. The Extensio Information Server is equipped
with Extensio Studio, a RAD toolkit to quickly build Extensio
information services.
The Extensio Extender for Excel is the latest addition to
Extensio Extender family, which includes front-end extenders
for Desktop, Web Services, SMS and WAP. The Extensio Excel
Extender does not require any MS Office upgrade and supports
all popular versions including Excel 2000/XP/2003.
